Miwi La Lupa is a zero-time Grammy nominee with 36 some-odd years of band/recording/touring/teaching experience. He started playing in school bands in like 3rd grade in Buffalo, NY and somehow hasn’t stopped in all these crazy years. A graduate of, and indebted to the Eastman School Of Music, and The Conor Oberst School of Hard Folk, Miwi has earned His stripes performing/touring/recording with Bright Eyes, Charlie Hunter, Bill Frisell, Gillian Welch, The Nublu Orchestra, Suzanne Vega, Fela! A Broadway Musical, Red Baraat, Mike Gordon (Phish), and many more. In addition to his solo work, he’s a founding member of Between Dog and Wolf, The Bhangra Liberation Orchestra, and Balloon Framing. He’s also a longtime member of Beyondo Band.

Though a proud native of Buffalo, NY, Miwi calls Brooklyn, NY home and has also called Omaha, NE home as well for a good handful of years.

He’s a teaching artist with 20+ years experience both in schools and privately. “Once a musician, always a teacher.”

He’s set to release his sixth “solo” record Fall ‘26 on Million Stars Records, a label founded by his great friend Conor Oberst. Previous Miwi records have been released on Team Love Records, and Tigershrimp Records.
